Software & Hardware-in-the-loop Testing

Virtual system simulation models can be used to test software and hardware when careful consideration is given to the model’s architecture and interfaces. Berkeley & Imperial has developed tools that allow us to communicate with the model, for example to change operating states, and to inject faults at the model component level. The process of software and hardware in the loop testing is essential when designing safety-critical systems controlled by programmable automation systems and software. Our methods and tools will ensure compliance with functional safety standard IEC 61511 and its daughter standards like 61508 and ISO 26262.
